Drug intelligence / Profile preview
[64Cu]Cu-Dimer_D is a preclinical, research-stage radiopharmaceutical diagnostic agent developed by Washington University School of Medicine and the University of Virginia for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of multiple myeloma. It consists of a dimeric-inverso peptide targeting CD38 (ADP-ribosyl cyclase 1) conjugated to a DIAMSAR chelator and radiolabeled with the positron-emitting isotope copper-64 (64Cu). The dimeric structure, composed of two D-amino acid-based monomeric peptide units (Monomer_D) linked via a PEG4 spacer, provides enhanced binding affinity and cellular uptake in CD38-overexpressing multiple myeloma cells (such as MOLP2) through avidity-driven engagement compared to its monomeric counterpart. In preclinical mouse models of multiple myeloma, [64Cu]Cu-Dimer_D demonstrated high serum stability, intense tumor-specific uptake, and clear visualization of skeletal lesions on PET/CT scans.
